What all should I do before going to Sweden?
Ok sooo...i want to be a foreign exchange student for my Junior year of HS and i'd love to go to sweden....so...yeah what should I know and everything before i go?(Besides obviously learn the language =))

Find a reliable program (AFS, YFU, Rotary are the only ones you should really consider) and then find the $8,000 + it will cost to go.

It is very very expensive to do that, but if you have the money and know the language I'd say you're good to go. Make sure you really really want to go though, so you won't change your mind after a few weeks and lose tons of money. Also, establish a good relation with your host family so you feel safe when you get there. If you want to know anything about Sweden, ask away! (I'm a Swedish teen living in Sweden so I hope I know some stuff)

Which part of sweden has the lowest cost of living?
Hi I intend to study in sweden. The education if free for international students there and students should pay cost of living. Could you introduce me the cities with low cost of living? Thanks

I think its Borås. Clothing and food are cheaper here and the rent is at least cheaper than Gothenburg. Good luck! :)

Cheapest way to ship items to Sweden from UK?
Dear all, I'm moving to Stockholm soon to further my study. I'm trying to find the cheapest way of shipping my stuff to Sweden (PC and books). As a student, I can't afford to pay around £150 + other costs . I also can't bring all the stuff on the flight (they'll charge more for overweight baggage!). Please help.

One time I used the cargo facility. You need to show your tickets and they will cargo it. It was lot cheaper then carrying and paying penalty, but you need to ask from them what they charge these days. These are Airline Cargo Facilities and not a private shipping service. Call airlines and find where the local facility is.

Does anyone know any exchange student programs?
Does anyone know any exchange student programs for someone who is 12/13? I know most say you ahve to be in high school, I was thinking of somewhere like Sweden or something? I know german and swedish already and I know some spanish and i already know full english, I live in NC, anyone know any ideas?

I participated in a fabulous program, called HomeStay Spain in SPAIN. After speaking with other kids in the group who had participated in other exchange programs abroad we decided this was the best! If you are interested in a lifestyle immersion experience and willing to learn about Spanish Culture and Lifestyle, this is the most amazing program available. The beautiful and safe town of Santander is known for its cultural refinement, and an atmosphere typical of old Spain. It is so much fun!!! And we learned so much!!!! It was so enriching. I LOVED IT!!! Since you mentioned that you know some Spanish I thought you would be interested to know that this program accepts 12 and 13 years of age students. Both my sister and I participated different summers and we had a blast! We made so many good friends we still keep in touch with! The program is really well planned out and people are lovely! Many host families have teens. They even allow you to come with a friend to stay in same host family home or in a different home. And if you sign up early they allow you to choose from the available host families for a perfect fit. Check their website www.beautifulspain.com Before deciding among different programs I had a chance to speak with some contacts that had participated in this program and my parents did as well. Is it easy to get Canada visit visa, if i apply it from sweden?And how much time it takes to get the visa? And is it possible for a student whose studying in sweden as on student visa to apply for canada visa?or is it possible to get admission in some course in canada univ and move there from sweden? If you are living in Sweden legally, you can apply for Canada immigration from Sweden. You can read about different immigration options, visitor visa and study permit at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp

as has been said, you do not need a visa to visit Canada. if you wish to study then you MUSt apply to a school in Canada and be accepted as a student. The school will send you an acceptance letter. You then send a copy of the acceptance letter to the CIC along with the application form for a study visa and wait for it to be processed. you must also have ENOUGH money to survive and live on AND pay all the tuition fees as you will NOT be able top apply for students loand within Canada. fees for a 1 years course are averaging around $12,000. So a 2 years course will be $24,000 and living for the same three years at a minimum (very basic) amount of $1000 per month (although thet will NOT always cover rent) means you have a MINIMUM of $48,000 for the 3 years. If you want to be safe, you should make it $2000 per month to live on, pay rent, buy food, clothes, entertainment, transport etc, for 2 years. This means a total of $3000 for 24 months - or $72,000 for the 2 years course. If you wish to attend university and do a 4 years degree, then you need to double that amount to $144,000. And you need this money to be saved up and available to you BEFORE you apply as you will need to show proof that you have this money already when you fill out the application. Onc you get the study visa then you fly to Canada, get to the university and find accommadation (on or off campus) and have a good time - dont forget to study.

Entering A schengen country with a student visa?
Can I enter a Schengen country, with the student visa of another Schengen country? My Swedish student visa does not mention if I am allowed to go to other Schengen states. Is my visa only valid for Sweden? I'd like to fly to Sweden via Denmark, but am unsure if my visa would allow me to enter Denmark.

All Schengen visas work for all Schengen countries. You can travel anywhere in the Schengen area (outside of your destination country) for up to 90 days at a time. If you are entering for the first time, you can enter at any point en-route to your destination.

The answer is YES, you can. Schenghen Visa is meant for visiting any Schenghen country and you can enter from any country and move around these countries freely irrespective of the country it has issued . However, I want to just remind you that UK is NOT the part of Schenghen countries and you need a separate Visa for the UK. However, if you have both Visas, UK as well as Schenghen, then you can enter anyone of the Schenghen countries from UK and vice versa. Bon voyage.

What is a Good, Solid Education Plan for an American Studying in Sweden?
I still have quite some time before I will start seriously applying for schools, but I am very interested in studying in Sweden. I have researched a few universities there, and I will be studying theater. Is it best for me to go to a J.C. or get a bachelors here in the US before applying for schools in Sweden? Also, is getting a higher education in Sweden very competitive for foreign students? Thank you :)
