How to get stuff from Sweden to the US?
How to get stuff from Sweden to the US?
Hey, I'm an exchange student in Sweden right now, and I just realized how hard it's going to be to get all the stuff I've bought here back to the US. What would be the best alternative to getting it all back? Should I get a second suitcase, and just pay for that on the plane or try shipping it (Although I think that might be really expensive)? Any advice or tips would be great!

First check your airline's baggage policy so you know exactly what you can take and how much extra suitcases will cost. Then compare with shipping your stuff home via the Post Office. Be sure to ask if there are discounts for things like books, and how much it will cost to ship the packages by surface mail. Surface mail may take a month or two but should be much less expensive than airmail. Sending it home via shipping services like DHL/FedEx/UPS will be very expensive.
2 :
Smuggle everything in your coat pocket

Living expenses vary depending on personal needs. However an estimated cost of living per month for a student in Sweden could be: Food 2500 Krona. Well it is a hard language to learn. Danish is much easier to learn. That my personal view.
2 :
You can live somewhat tightly, but reasonably and securely on about 7,000 kronor a month. I'd be nervous if I had less than this. 10,000 kronor a month will be very comfortable. Bear in mind that you will need to be medically insured, as you will not have access to their social services unless you have a European Union passport.

7000

an university student will automatically get 2500 kronas every month(if you're a swedish citizen) and can borrow money from (CSN) up to 4500 kronas each month. a student room in sweden will cost you around 2000 kronas, but it depends on the size of the rooz and how many you are going to be in that room. food?! it depends on how much you wanna eat, u get a pizza for 50-60 kronas. so i'd say if you live 'normal' and don't spend much money you'll pay around 2500-3000 kronas for food every month. if you can speak swedish you wont have any problems, but if you can't speak english you have to attend some swedish(language) classes first(unless you start in a English-teaching university). if you speak english well now, you'll learn swedish in 6-12 months. check www.studera.nu and www.csn.se

1. Most of Sweden do. Notice the weirdness is in the north, and if you don't go much north of Stockholm, (or Uppsala,) you still have a "night" and a "day". 2. I don't even think Sweden has universities north of the Arctic Circle. They are all in the normal world;-). 3. If you are so damned afraid of the cold, you just stay in the south, ie, choose Lund. But it's not as horrible as you seem to think in Gothenburg or Stockholm.
