what passport do you hold. The Kingdom of Sweden is a Schegen member country.? 1 Austria 2 Belgium 3 Denmark 4 Finland 5 France 6 Germany 7 Greece 8 Iceland 9 Italy 10 Luxembourg 11 Netherlands 12 Norway 13 Portugal 14 Spain 15 Sweden .

For long term studies to exceed three month you will have to apply for a Swedish residence permit (UppehĂ¥llstillstĂ¥nd) which also serves as visa waiver for the other Schengen countries for a stay of up to 90 days within each 6 months. If you are a visa national and plan a short term study in Sweden up to three month you should add to your application that you also plan to visit other Schengen countries; otherwise you may be issued a national visa (type D) which would be valid for Sweden only. http://www.migrationsverket.se/english/estudier/index.html The Schengen zone meanwhile consists of 25 countries which are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. You may also visit the microstates which are land-locked by Schengen countries like Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City. http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo/en/WillkommeninD/EinreiseUndAufenthalt/Schengen.html .. Edit: (based on the next answer) The next answerer does not seem to have a clue about Schengen procedures or tries to promote a commercial website which cannot be recommended since it contains lot of wrong information.

Hi, Having student visa for Sweden does not necessarily mean that you need or need not another visa to enter other countries in Europe. It depends on limitations for your student visa, on your nationality, etc. To answer your question, take a look here at page called WHO NEEDS SCHENGEN VISA (http://www.euro-dollar-currency.com/who_needs_schengen_visa.htm). This page provides a list of countries of which their nationals need to apply for Schengen visa when traveling to Europe. To check whether your student visa is the actual Schengen visa, compare what you have in your passport to the picture shown on this page called SCHENGEN VISA IMAGE (http://www.euro-dollar-currency.com/schengen_visa_image.htm)

All universities and colleges demands proof that you can afford living here. That costs 10600 USD annually at today's rates. That is considered to be enough.

Where can I get a student loan as a U.S. citizen to study at Umea University in Sweden?
I'm planning on attending Umea Institute of Design (Part of Umea University) in Umea, Sweden this coming fall. I've noticed that Umea isn't on the FASFA list of approved schools...am I out of luck or is there a bank that will give me a student loan?

Look at their website for the Internation student financial aid forms they accept. If you have good credit, most banks will allow you to take out a loan, regardless of where you attend school.
