I know I can enter Sweden if i already have a job offer from Sweden and can get a work permit from the employer. Also i can enter Sweden on a students visa, What i want to know is can i apply for permanent residency directly instead of opting for a work permit or a students visa, the way its possible for Canada and New Zealand. Please provide me with correct information or with a website that has this exact information that i am looking for

You cannot apply for permanent residency from abroad no*. You must first legally reside in Sweden and apply for naturalisation and have been living there legally for a minimum of 5 years, and over 18 years old * - assuming you have no birthright links You can read the details for yourself here http://www.migrationsverket.se/english/emedborg/emedborg.html
